Mito or not?!

Hello all from a new member
I currently drive a Renault Laguna 2.0 RTI. It still goes really well but having covered 146000 miles it's now or never to cash in on the scrappage scheme as the car real value is probably only a couple of hundred quid. I am worried about down sizing though and losing the 150bhp.
I have test driven a second hand 159 and love the car but cannot afford a new one so have considered the Mito as an option.
My firts test drive in the 1.4 155bhp left me with a non plussed impression in N mode but a great feeling in D. I have test driven a second car at another dealer and was even more dissapointed in N where the car felt underpowered and sluggish compared to the Laguna but love the car in D.
This is the first time I will have been able to invest in a new car. I have mixed feelings on what to do for such a large investment and for something I will have to live with for the next 3 years. For all you new owners who have lived with the car a little while what do you suggest. What will driving the CAR continually in D mean in terms or running costs and general useage? Does anybody out there do that?
My alternative is to stick with Renault and go for something like a Megane coupe as a middle option. Any suggestions / advice would be welcome
