Hey guys, thought I'd say a quick hello.
Bought a 156 Sportwagon (54 plate) last thursday (my fourth alfa) from a dealer near London, got 48.6 miles away from the dealer to have a catastrophic failure on in the M40.
AA patrolman confirmed my worst fears: Cambelt failure, EGR valve, and camshaft fault codes
First question I asked the dealer was "has it had the 72000 service? cambelt?", and was promptly shown the service record, which was indeed stamped to confirm it had been serviced at 72000 miles (it's just clocked 74000 now). *sigh*
Got the AA to tow it back to the dealer, he was nice enough and offered me an 06 plate 156 as an immediate replacement, but it wasn't as nice as the 54 plate I had just bought, and it had higher miles on it. I stuck by my guns, and left the car with them for repair (under the warranty that I had just taken on it the same day), and wandered off through the rain, completely and utterly Alfa-less.
Still love 'em though! Hoping to collect the car end of this week/beginning of next, so here's hoping...
