Return To Alfa Land !
Hi everyone !
After a brief spell away from Alfa ownership (had a couple of 156's since 2002), I've returned to the fold with a 2004 GT 2.0 JTS in gabbiano blue.
And what an absolute stunner ! I've been desperate for a GT for some time, and it really is everything I hoped it would be and more.
First, the engine - how did Alfa get it to make THAT noise ?!!! It sounds fantastic and performs really well - feels very different to the T-Sparks.
Secondly, handling - god I've missed the pin sharp steering and go-kart handling feel of Alfa's. I've had an MG-ZT diesel for the last 18 months which I thought was pretty decent, but the GT now makes it seem heavy and 'sofa' like.
Finally, the styling - wow ! It looks fantastic, and makes most other coupes (including the TT and 3 series) look drab. The interior, although mostly 147, still feels like a very special place to be. And it is relatively practical, with a really usuable boot !!!
Although I was originally looking for a JTD, at £6500 with only 40K miles, a full Alfa history, recent cambelt change and immaculate condition proved too much to resist.
Any downsides ? Not found anything yet except the wife is terrified of driving it as it's so much faster and sharper than anything we've had before ! But that may not be such a downside, eh ?
Anyway, it's great to be back in Alfa land again and I'm looking forward to receiving any tips on ownership from fellow GT'ers.
