Oil.....and where does it go?
Hi, I'm rather new to this sort of thing but the above question has driven me here.
I've had my 156 2.0TS for a little over three years now. It's a working car and I'm not generally the sort to spend my weekends cleaning it but nonetheless it's served me reasonably well and I think I could probably squeeze another years worth out of it (it's done 108k).
I've had the issues with the gears (Selespeed - a victory of gimickry over logic) and some minor issues but these are all resolved. The one thing that intrigues is the amount of oil it drinks without any obvious sign of malfunction.
I guess from the comments I've read here that this goes with the territory and it's not a major problem to me. I've always used a part-synthetic 10w-40 but the advice seems to be otherwise; 10w-60 for example or full synthetic.
So my question would be which oil/oil type is recommmended to last longer? and is this likely to be a better oil for the engine?
I ask this in the hope that there's a clear majority among you who have a similar view but I imagine most of you will have a better idea than me in any case.
