Cry Like A Baby Beliah1

Hi all, just joined. I bought my Alfa 147. 1.6L in August last year. 6 weeks following I needed a new steering rack. Think that was bad enough, 3mths later the cam-belt broke @ 67,000Ks. Cost me $4,500.00 N.Z. $'s. Now it is using excessive oil (like I need to top up every fortnight). Anyone out there why this is happening? Do I need to specify what oil I need ( ie 10 W 60 or40)? I love my car, so the more advice the better. I believe Selena oil is best for Alfa's, however am unsure as if you can get this in N.Z. Cheers.
