Hi One and All
I'm a newbie to the forum and on the hunt for a 156 JTD Sportwagon to become a legitimate AlfaOwner
Thanks in advance for all the detailed insight posted on these forums
I've been trawling through the postings and technical pages over the last few weeks educating myself to the intricacies of Alfa ownership...
Lot's to learn and care to be taken!
Having only driven a handfull of Alfas, I have been drawn in by the prowess of historical glories, beautifully refined Italian style and the beaming Cheshire grin embossed on my mug when behind the wheel
Oh the delight! ...paws firmly & comfortably manouvering the superbely tactile controls, roaring through the gears, whislt snuggley seated on immaculate, luxurious leather & tuned into world class audio!
My most memorable past Alfa delight was enjoying the nippy pace, excellent cornering & sweet boxer grumble of my good friend's 33 1.5 cloverleaf saloon. Wellington, in NZ, had some lovely windy hills with both fast sweeping and slow tight bends along with a great undulating motorway for a good blast. Bellissimo!.
I am really looking forward to making more use of the site & engaging in occasional chat on the forums.
-= P/S Extra " Wanted ! - To Buy " =-
I am presently in the market for a 156 JTD 10v Sportwagon with a meager budget of £2000 for a good example. I have tried the 1.6, 1.8 & 2.0 TS options, however my heart is set on the sound, feel, power & economy of the diesel turbo.
A good clean original Veloce would be my preference with leather interior (ideally low mileage with roof bars, sport kit & classic 5-hole tele-dial wheels). However, I would happily settle for a decent Lusso - comfort for my partner & our soon to be unvealed new arrival (AKA: Bubs) Anything will be considered as I am prepared to get my hands dirty.
Furthermore, we will be driving our new purchase from London to Portugal for a couple of months - any advice for routes taking in some spectacular roads would be much appreciated.
NOTE: If I don't find a good JTD my partner will convince me that we need "a more reliable car" - Toyota Corolla, etc. Please help!
