After YEARS of only driving german cars and being known to say "I will only ever drive VAG...", I have recently become slightly besotted with Alfa 147s...
I was looking into buying a mk4 golf, but got sick of the rediculous prices people are STILL asking for. Just out of interest I started looking at other cars - and that is when I found 147s!
I am amazed at what you can get for £3 - 4k!! ((2001 - 03 selespeed Lusso model)) 17" Alloys, Full leather interior, Bose sound system, 150bhp and flappy paddle gears!! Awesome!
So, I have spent the last week trauling through autotrader, pistonheads & ebay - trying to find the perfect one for me. TBH - I have now got so many 147s in my head I am getting more confused every day...
What I'd like to know is:
How many different variations of the Bose sound system were there? Many mention a Bose sound system, but some mention cd multi changers and I've even found 1 mention of a factory fitted Sub in the boot!!
Is the selespeed flappy paddle gearbox as fun as it sounds??? Is it problematic at all? Is it slow? Worse than standard manual?
Do I have to be worried about how unreliable I've always heard Alfas are??? Am I looking at an engine rebuild if I buy one ar 60k mileage??? - I've seen several for sale that have had rebuilds etc...
Thats about it for now!
Any info at all would be great, really excited about trying out a totally different driving experience!
