Please do not get a selespeed if you like to have any money to spare, I did, and regretted it.
Now bought something with a bit more charm, I thought that AR was up there in the charm stakes, but no,,
I've now moved on to a more respectable marque after too much grief...
Cheers ( bring it on )
VW....more respectable :rolf: :rolf:
:rolf: :rolf: oh please.......
i have lost count of the times i have trawled the VW forums and come across issues suce as body control modules, dashboards multifunction displays and cylinder head issues.....they make alfa issues look minor
Dont get me wrong, the 156 was a nice car, if a little fragile.
They're a bit too highly strung though imo, and the selaspeed is an ongoing disaster waiting to happen, not mentioning the electrical niggles.
Hey, im no VW pusher but i had a golf gti mk2 for 5 yrs and it bearly missed a beat, cost **** all to run and was a looker, ( plus it'd blitz the 156 - even in standard form...)
I see AR as a the pretty boy in the class with no b0ll0x.
. . . i win!
Fragile wouldn't be redline on a daily basis would it? i do that with mine with no issues...
Electrics are supplied by Bosch...which just so happen to be GERMAN...actually the same supplier as VW
From experience the 1.8 GTI Mk2 was pushing out about 115/120 bhp, the Alfa 2.0 150 bhp even the 2.0 16v VW lump was no better at about 150 bhp, and as for handling
nope the 156 will out handle a golf GTI, tried and tested
in standard form
I have owned a Mk2 big bumper 1.8 2.0 and had a VR6, and pound for pound they an nowhere near as much fun as an Alfa......the only thing i think is you didn't do your homework and ended up with one that was not well treated....a similar situation if you get a VW....
And as for Selespeed....9K miles in 2 months and not a peep put of it...an ongoing disaster :rolf: not a clue
