About to purchase...
First time on here but it won't be the last as I am likely to buy my first Spider tomorrow.
Went to see it today,99 on an S, 51k miles, has good history and has been owned by an Italian car professional for last 3 years so is mechanically sound (belts and variator done etc)
Only issue with it is a slow hood. It needs a little help. I know its a common fault and even if I got one that was fully functional, I have no doubt it would fail on me some time anyway.
My question is, and it may be a little broad, but how easy is it to dismantle and recondition the hood mechanics. I am an experienced DIY mechanic and never consider a job too small apart from gearboxes.
Does anyone know what the problem might be.
It's going to be a sunny day car so not imperative it works.
Just looking for some views and opinions on whether or not it is a disaster not to have it working, or if I should go for it. The price I feel reflects this issue.
Also, is it easy enough to fold up / down mechanically if it does fail?
