Re: overheating in my 2.5 v6 sportronic
Not sure of the 166, but on the 156 V6 the fans kick in at double speed when you turn on the airco. For a while, as I had an overheating problem, that was sometimes the only way to stop the needle going into the red. Sounds daft, but the extra fan activity cools the engine well. If you don't notice the fan stepping up a gear when you turn on the airco, maybe that's the problem. Another thing to check is that the system is still pressurised. And last but not least, my airco failed monumentally when the clutch mechanism that engages the pump burned out -- very smelly and very noisy, and that was preceded by loads of odd ticking sounds and ineffective cooling. Not sure if any of this helps much, but I wish you good luck with it.
