My wife and I have been looking for a car that was different and special since our eldest daughter passed her driving test and as a result, 'steals' the car on a daily basis! Our middle daughter is 17 this year, so we started looking for an older car for 'US' to enjoy!
An Alfa was high on the list and after test driving numerous tatty examples, I came upon a 156 on this site for sale last week. - only problem, it was 350 miles away!!
As a result, we made a weekend of it and yesterday bought the 2003 model in silver! It is quick, comfortable, economic and looks great. The handling is far far superior to a diesel passat which we used to have, but really handling and Passat should not be shared in the same sentence. It has special order leather seats, which are an excellent condition as is the interior. The outside has a few dings, which for a 6 year old car, are expected I suppose and can be sorted!
I have not even started to search through your site but am sure it will be as good as the UKgser motor bike site that I am a member of. It is full of fanatics as well!
On my immediate list of sorts are;
1. Temperature sits at 70 degrees, I presume it should be 90 and a simple thermostat change is required??
2. The seller didn't have the Key code card nor the radio code card - he is going to try and get them [seems genuine] but I presume that I can get them from Alfa?? Is it easy??
3. The last service was at a non Alfa agent who didn't reset the scheduled maintenance gismo. Can this only be done by Alfa or can I reset it? Yes. I know RTFM - I am slowly getting there!!
4. Oh, just noticed last night as it was getting dark after our journey that the FNS dipped headlight is us, so that is a job for when I get home, no doubt I will need surgeons hands to get to it or will I be proved wrong??
I think that is basically it and look forward to learning more.
