I've been pointed towards making this 'newbie' post so I'll be good and follow the sites advice
Tomorrow late afternoon I should be going to pick-up an Alfa 147 2.0 Lusso. Had been looking for a decent car for I'm basically moving from my present location (Brentwood) from where I have been commuting by train into London, to Birmingham for a new job. This meant getting a car again to move some of my stuff up there (rented to rented so no need for an MPV!) and having transport to get about the place and back to the London area every other week or so.
I have to say I hadnt really considered the 147 to start with. I was looking at Golf V5's and in particular the 4Motions which are within the runaround budget I'd set myself (upto 4k for the car). Found a reasonable 147 online, great indigo colour, with grey leather interior at half the price of the Golfs I was looking for. It may need a little paint/bodywork attention (poor door repair) but on the whole it looked good.
As long as the test drive works out okay, I'll be confirming my purchase and I guess that'll be a 'proper' Alfa owner! The Alfa really does look very nice and the interior seems so much more stylish than any other car I'd been considering. Reliability appears (from reading this forum and other sites) to be okay thesedays which is pleasing.
The car has done 74k miles and recently had cambelt service. If anyone has any advice on 147 ownership/things to look out for I'd be more than happy to hear from you.
Anyway, enough of the rambling!
