Hello from a newbie.
Hi, having just bought a mot failed 156 2.0ts 1998 Leather and wood interior excellent bodywork and interior, I've already found like my other Italian cars that they're much better to look at than work on. Fail sheet said wiper blades, pads front and rear, top suspension arm handbrake cables and pedal creep ( new brake master cylinder). With all the parts fitted in a couple of hours- except the master cylinder i decided that 160+vat for a new master was a little steep as i only paid 150 for the car so bought second hand on ebay- Thats when the fun started, how difficult can it be, 2 pipes to reservoir, two to abs and two bolts to fix it to the servo? 5 hours to get off and nearly as many to put on plus the blood loss from knuckles back ache from contorting my body in ways I didn't believe possible. So bleed the system, back ones ok then front drivers side- Oh dear the brake pipe sprung a leak ( yes i've read the warning FYI now- albeit a little late)so i'm expecting next weekend to be spent under the car attempting the impossible task of replacing the pipe. I also have a Seicento Sporting Abarth which has a rubbish plastic link to operate the clutch which is equally difficult to change amd a Maserati 430 which is difficult to work on due to the extorsionate parts prices. THEY'RE ITALIAN YOU DON'T EXPECT THEM TO WORK WELL-BUT JUST LOOK AT THEM!!!
