Hello! As not to sound rude, I will introduce myself before asking some questions! I drive a rubbish Saab Turbo, I am a bit sick of driving such an old heap, I drove a Renaultsport 197 before that, but sold it to get rid of some monthly costs, now I have some cash to buy a new car and 147's have caught my eyes.
Have been reading this forum today/last night to get more info on Alfa 147s, looked at a few today, and test drove what seemed the best, a 2003 52 plate 147 1.6 Lusso, in good shape, some stone chips on the bonnet, and some light scratches, but interior is nice and it drives good!
Any advice would be good regarding the issues I noticed: -
1 - Lost service history, he had the outer paper bit, but no book, said he will find it, seems a good place (ran by an italian family it seems), obviously I wouldn't buy without it being found, it is meant to have a full history.
2 - Cambelt! Has receipt of it being changed in 2006 at 41k miles, its on around 75k now, which according to what I've read means it needs another change really, the cost of this really puts me off it!
3 - Chip on windscreen, will get that fixed or I wouldn't buy again I think, should be able to be filled!
4 - Had an engine warning, bloke said he knew about it, and would fix it when sold, but didn't want to before then as they might trade it (seems fair enough).
It's £3k, which seems a good price, and will come with a 6 month warranty.
