Just to say thanks for the warm welcome
Well I got the Cloverleaf home today and must say what a lot of thought has gone into its design. I am really impressed. Not only that but it's got so much individuality.
Took the cam cover off and checked all the followers were doing what they should be, all seems okay, springs operating, plugs looked okay so got the compression tester out and indeed cylinder 2 and 4 have no compression, well not very much any way < 20 pisg.
Look throuhg the plug holes and pistons seem okay, as is the cambelt, so it can't have clobbered a couple of valves surely because all of the cylinders would have been affected if the cambelt had slipped ?
Supposition now is that valves are sticking partially open but not enough to contact valves, so it seems head will have to come off. Ho hum.
A guy at a local specialist quoted £200 for taking it off and about £400 for putting it back on with new belt. The phrase "sod that" came to mind quickly, but he was helpful enough and gave me his card if he could help in any way (apart from doing it all for fifty quid!)
Everything else seems good though, the car was a lease car from new (I know I know
) and has service history up to 60k and has now doen 104k. Can't wait to drive it in ernest - wherever that is !
