, I'm a very excited, soon to be owner, of a 2001 156 2.0 Selespeed. Very impressed with the car on my test drive, everything worked fine, it was only after getting home, I read about owners problems with the selespeed system!
Still, mine works fine and the car comes with a 12 month warranty. I was told that part of the gearbox mechanism was replaced recently ( he mentioned valves and stuff, but not knowing how it worked, it didnt register with me) and the cam belt was replaced 15000 miles ago ( car now at 75000 miles)
I dont remember hearing a motor running when i opened the door, but the car was already unlocked and the motor may have run before I got the door open myself.
Anyway, cant wait to get it, should be in a couple of days after the aircon has been regassed.
I did notice a black screw lid with a small pipe connector on the top , on the right side of the engine ( from the front) I assume some sort of pipe should be connected to this, is it the selespeed oil reservoir and should a pipe be fitted?
Its great to find this forum, I think you can expect quite a few posts in the near future as I get to grips with the car. This isnt my first Alfa either, last one was in 1988 when I had a 1984 GTV6 2.5. That exhaust note sold it to me back then!!
