Dashboard melting

Hi all, I am a new member here, I would like to share my problem with my 166 3.0V6 24V. It is a 2000 model, very happy with it, I have just one problem with the underside of the dashboard, it seems to be melting , the paintwork has lost its properties it became very tacky would leave fingerprints if touched, did anyone experience a similar problem, it could be due to the excessive heat in the summer days. I would now like to repair this, but would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem. I was told that to remove the underside of the dashboard it has to be done by authorised ALFA garage as the whole dash has to be removed and even programming is needed .!!! any help would be much appreciated
