I'm Per Jensen from Fredrikstad, Norway, and I am in the process of buying an Alfa 159 1.9JTd Sportwagon, which will also be my first Alfa. Finally.
I stumbled across this great forum a few days ago as I have been doing a little pre-purchase research, and you enthusiasts have already taught me a lot of useful stuff! Thanks!!
My local Alfa Romeo dealer only had new cars in stock, and he has searched through other dealers to find a used 159 within my budget, which was no easy task since Alfas in general and 159s in particular are still far between in Norway. But he finally found a silver 2006 1.9 JTd Distinctive (120 BHP) with black leather interior. I was initially looking for the 16V 150BHP, but that was nowhere to be found at this time. But one has to start somewhere...
Today I have a 2003 Honda CR-V
, but the Alfa dealer is offering a decent deal on this. I will be borrowing a 2008 159 for a few hours tomorrow on a mix of dry, wet and icy roads, since then I can honestly tell my wife that I did in fact try one before signing the documents. (I admit the car must handle like **** if I am going to change my mind now...)
The only Alfa I have ever tried before is a 156 Sportwagon back in 2000, and that was a sweet ride which I have never forgotten. There really are no other cars than Alfas that create this feeling. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? Almost no other car creates any feeling at all, imo.
I will let you know how it goes. I look forward to being a part of the AR forum!
