Hi everyone. Been browsing on the forum for a while – ‘tis a wonderful thing. Recently bought my first Alfa – a 156 swg 2.4 JTD and already experiencing slightly worrying feelings of love and hate for it.
Seems to have most of the standard problems; MAF faulty because the airbox is knackered; nasty clunks from the suspension; juddering wipers etc. Fantastic drive though (with the MAF disconnected) & am quietly confident that it can be sorted.
Took it to Gonella Brothers today to have rear hub bushes done (they were definitely shot) but clunks remain – not a great start - will have another look - maybe arb next?
Have ordered new MAF and turbo intake hose (split) from ebspares – good price. Looking to replace the broken airbox with a CDA. Know that they’ve been pretty well covered on the Forum but anybody have experience of fitting one on a 2.4 JTD10v (140hp)?
The 2.4 JTD kits listed seem to come with a 90 deg bend & straight alu pipe – which don’t look necessary to me. Seems like I just need to join the CDA to the MAF – a closely as possible so that it doesn’t hang down too low & leaves some room to route the cold feed.
1.9 JTD kit looks closer. Any thoughts? Thanks
