Hello from a newby
Hi there. Just an introductory message to say hello.
I'm on my third Alfa right now, having previously had a Giullietta 116 (for 4 years) and a 75 (for 11 years). There was also a Peugeot 205GTI in the middle, for 9 years. All excellent cars, including the Pug, and all with their little stories. The Giullietta that didn't like idling when in traffic on hot days - because the fuel lines went over the engine causing fuel vapourisation. It also seemed to eat exhaust systems. The Pug was fantastic - until the cambelt snapped just 24hours before it was already booked in to have it replaced, at 70,000miles. The 75 was the best, even though what started off as a deteriorating prop shaft 'doughnut' lead to a new engine. If only Alfa had taken the 75 and brought it up to date - but then we wouldn't have had the 155 and possibly 156, I suppose.
Currently, I've had for the past 10 years one of the earliest 2.5V6 156's, registered in December 1997 and now on 112,000miles. Faultless if you don't count a few sidelight bulbs, headlamp washer pump and a radiator - plus the consumables, that now seem to include MAFs and lambda sensors. The first part of the original exhaust system was replaced earlier this year.
Think I'll stop there - all I meant to do was say hello.
