I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to being involved with fellow alfa owners. Having spent a lot of money on my mondeo which probably would have gone on for some time, I suddenly had a mid-life crisis and decided I wanted a more stylish and sporty car. I ran through in my mind all the cars that would fit the bill with the money I had to spend and Alfa was the only one. So I bought a 2lt 156 JTS with leather seats and it's great. Although some idiot yesterday went into the back of my pride & joy and caused major damage! (I could cry).
I have one problem though that seems to be mentioned quite a lot but there seems to be no straight solution. It 'pinks' a lot of the time, mainly under load but also when I start up and pull away and general acceleration. I had work done on it fairly recently, cam belt & tensioner, balance belt & tensioner, idler, and at my mechanics suggestion a new variator. That made no difference. Could it be the 'knock sensor'?
Thanks for any help
