Had a 146ti for the last 4 years, absolute POS, if only they were as well made as they are styled.
You guys have a great forum here and very informative; keep it up, with cars as badly made as these you need a great owners club to keep them going.
Just rebuilding my engine after 45000 mile big end failure; yes thats right 45000 miles
. Always sounded awful (not the variator), turned out to be a bent crank
Couldn't beleive how badly made everything was when I was stripping it down. Will probably be getting rid of the car once the engine is back in, unless I am astounded by its performance (not having driven it for 4 years) once its running again. Think I might stick with Jap from now on; the Alfa looks great but that's its only good point.
One quick question can you disable/lock the variator, or is there an alternative (earlier) camshaft without the variator that can be fitted? As it is not a propper VVT I can't see the point in the system, so might as well ditch it and save on the problems associated with it.
You guys deserve medals running these cars
:EDIT: Just checked the reg and realised I have owned the car for 6 years 4 of them off the road.
