Afternoon boys and girls,
Just thought I'd say hi. I picked up my first Alfa last week.
Bit of a weird situation for me. I did have a Porsche Boxster (all on finance!!) which I used for both work and play, but have got a new job up in London, so now commute on the train. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't justify paying such a large amount of monthly finance for a car that I hardly drive. So I sold that and was only left with £3000 in cash.
I looked originally for either a 150 BHP Golf Gti or an Audi A3....but having seen a few with spaceship miles (remember I only had £3k to spend) and also realising that there were 5 Golfs and 4 Audis living on my street already, but not one single Alfa - my decision was made for me!!
(I also remember something Clarkson said about not being a 'proper petrol head' unless you'd owned and Alfa)!!
I'm now the proud owner of a 51 plate 147 2.0 TS Lusso, black, 3 door. It's a very smart little car for the money and is sat on the 17 inch Supersport alloys that I really like.
Already I've treated it to clear indicators, a carbon gear knob and some Alfa valve caps from Alfisti.net and some nice new logo'd carpets and an Alfa tax disc holder courtesy of Ebay.
On Friday I replaced the rust box at the back with a rather nice Powerflow custom system. Nothing boy racer ish, just a nice subtle oval pipe that gives a nice burble at idle and a little more throatiness when you hit the loud pedal.
I've just had a call from my audio place to say that my JVC KD-AVX44 is now installed and running through the Bose system (which was already in the car) so I'm looking forward to watching a few DVDs and listening to my Ipod in it tonight!
It's booked in to have a few paint imperfections sorted on Wednesday (just a few bumper scuffs and stuff) and then my mate who does wheel refurbishment is giving all the wheels the once over next week...he normally does all the wheels for Damon Hill's P1 Club so is used to doing Lambos and Ferraris and for £40 per wheel he does an awesome job. (Anyone in the southern home counties just PM me for his number).
Should have it looking like new by next weekend and will get some pics up.
I never thought I could get so much car, with so much Italian style (and so many toys) for such little money.
