156 V6 to 159 3.2 Q4

Just got home to Auckland after a swift 1000km/600 mile delivery from Christchurch (New Zealand) in a 2007 black 3.2 Q4.

Meanwhile, her silver '98 156 V6 predecessor sits forlornly in the driveway awaiting a buyer...

I kind of figure that the DRM159 handle (also and not uncoincidentally the car's licence plate) will attract the attention of fellow forum member Davethechemist - I strongly suspect he was the previous owner from what I can glean from his posts.

Suffice to say I had a fabulous drive back - and although I think this car will also (ie as per the 156) have it's little foibles, the levels of mid corner grip are prodigious, it looks even better than the photos - and the new V6 still sounds simply glorious...

Is there an Alfa dealer in Christchurch? That would make me want to move over even more!

To be fair, it probably isn't that much further than my current sales dealer

Re: 156 V6 to 159 3.2 Q4

Nice to see the cheerful response to my first post - makes me feel very welcome to the club...

I managed to very quickly track down previous owner "davethechemist" via the members profiles - and it has been great to get a bit more history on the car.

Dave spent a bit of time chatting with others on this site's forums about paint, leather and other options before even ordering his "Bella", not to mention some of her wee foibles once she was delivered...

Although I think he is a bit sad he isn't going to be seeing her driving around his home town, he should be happy she is in good hands. Besides, he has a new Maserati to play with now...

Still, I never knew you could get so much pleasure just from turning round in your driveway for one last look at your 159 crouching there, ready to pounce on something...
