Hello Alfa-Romeo fans,
I am Irish, living in Germany and since last Friday, the proud owner of a 3 year old 147 2.0 Ti Selespeed.
I am located in Bonn, Germany so the car is a left hooker and I looks really stunning in metallic black/grey finish with the big alloys. It is a 2005 model, and I am impressed with the build quality and finish of the car.
Someone once told me me that to be a true petrolhead, you need to have either owned an Alfa Romeo or a Rotary engined sports car. In my case, I have owned both so I guess that means that you can blame partially the current oil prices on me.
I also read in Honestjohn and other websites regarding the poor driveability of the selespeed 156/147s but actually i was quite impressed and found it every bit as good as the 6 speed tiptronic on my old RX8 - you just need to remember to lift off the throttle. I also love the `blip` on the throttle on the downshifts. The handling is also very very good, not far off the pace of my old Rex.
I look forward to meeting up with other Alfa owners and to sharing advice on 147s in general, hopefully I won`t have any significant reliability issues
