hola
engine monitor falier came on yeterday.
new clutch at christmas.
and a few other little niggles are starting to pop up....
Worried now about this engine monitor, car seems to be lacking power. drove 300 miles yesterday, with a little less oil than I should of had and it seems to of lost water too, not sure if thats something to do with it.. on the look out for a new garage to take it to, as I just moved to scotland from manchester

well... i'm not a mech-head so I can't really help ya myself, from my own experience the "Motor Control System Failure" when it happened to me was just a MAF sensor had gone bust on me, they replaced it and it was sorted hope yours is that easy!

erm.... depends... there's been a couple of problems... some major some not:

1-blown catalytic converter (irish road pothole with a rock next to it) - €1200 for Alfa Romeo cat & fitting (3 months ago)
2-"Motor Control System Failure" - faulty MAF sensor - covered under garuntee when i bought the car (happened a month after i bought it)
3-clutch release bearing (6 months ago mechanic friend fixed for me for free)
4-Timing/Cam belt broke - €2200 for Full Top End rebuild (my engine as a result is pretty much brand spanking new)

other than that, no problems! lol
But to be honest, I love her so much i'd go through it all again!

the irish country roads go round and round, round and round, round and round

........ AND I LOVE IT!

Well I would say the same... I had my car from new for 6 years now. b4 this car I bought a car had it 2 years until I was bored then changed it. .. still not bored of this one!

my first service after the 3 years warrenty cost me £3k as I needed a new stearing arm as well as many other parts. car was gone for 2 weeks thats what hurt the most. then recently as she is getting old I have had to pay out on her aging ways. but b4 this I had old klancias so it aint like it was a shock!!!!!

Re: bloody cars!! engine monitor failer!

similar story, two of my most loved cars had major faults, but neither ultimately made me sell

Alfa 33 GC, broken crankshaft, was repaired by some cowboys in Falkirk, but ended up getting a newer engine fitted a few months later on by Fishers [S McL]

Alfa 33 16v - gearbox exploded on me leaving a set of lights, repair attempted, but again a replacement box was the ultimate answer, also had a blown head gasket but after a skimmed head she was enjoyed for another good year

Most recently my 156 JTS Lusso had its engine replaced under warranty after barely 40k due to excessive oil consumption, main dealer [AC Paisley]was the main reason for selling her, lost count of the amount of times I got an MCS failure on that particular car, only went into limp home mode once out of the total 6 occurences, they faffed around ad-infinitum chasing lambda probe issues
