Get one. They are infectious once you have one parked on the drive. When mine reached 3 years old and I was thinking of changing I was fortunate to have the finances for a Porche Cayman S. Instead, I Kept the GTA and bought the new Spider. I then spent on money on upgrades. I haven't regretted the decision although my son has, I think.

Re: almost alfa owner... gta!!

one word/phrase of caution, and only if you drive lots of miles

RUNNING COSTS !!!

factor in your depreciation and road tax and petrol and the fun factor might not be so great, but I suppose an MPS isn't the most frugal of machines

I am currently on lookout for cheap JTD as I can't stomach the mileage and fuel I'm putting on my year old Civic CTR atm

But if I worked closer to home I would struggle to look beyond the fun I had in my 3.0 V6 164 many years ago.

And there I go again trying to apply reason to an Alfa Romeo purchase

Re: almost alfa owner... gta!!

when I bought my GTA 4 years ago I had been looking at a BMW clubsport 3.L. It was sitting at over 30K the Alfa with better options was at 24K. The man at BMW went on about the Clubsport holding its value etc and he was right. It would be worth about 50% in 3 years. The Alfa would hold about 40%. But the BMW was costing me £6k more. When I saw and heard the 147 GTA it blew the BMW out of the equation. The finances also made the decision a no brainer. So depreciation is in the eyes of the beholder so to speak. Who out there would have chosen the clubsport over the Alfa. I am still counting the money I saved.

Re: almost alfa owner... gta!!

i dont think many people on this forum would choose the bmw! i wouldnt.
so have you had to use your warranty much/at all in the years you have had it? was the infamous alfa reliability reputation putting you off? and does the rep warrant itself? (if i have made sense?)

Re: almost alfa owner... gta!!

I must say I have found the dealer superb by and large. I am struggling to think of a warranty issue. At 37 months the water pump went and compromised the cambelt. Both replaced under warranty after a little persuasion. My good fortune may be down to the fact that I have 3 cars from the same dealer. As for the other two 159 SW jtd and 2.2 spider, two reliable cars. Had an x type a while back; never out of the bloody dealer
