Re: 147 manual or selespeed

I don't see what can be so bad about having a selespeed, I'd quite to have one myself eventually, like anything in life things can go wrong no matter what you have, or sometimes things are just extremely reliable, treat anything with care and it will repay you back a thousand times over (hopefully!).

I'd say test drive both to see how you feel about using this type of gearbox.

Re: 147 manual or selespeed

Well said alimac 1973, like all things in life, age takes it's toll eventually. It's after me at the moment, and maybe the Sele' will outlast my body!

Re: 147 manual or selespeed

I am very happy with my Selespeed...and yes it is a MANUAL, cogs, clutch and all. And no matter how good you "think" you are, you won't do a better up change or especially downchange(toe heal in non sele) than the Selespeed. Key word is everytime! Also like someone said not taking hands off wheel to change is why Ferrari F1 introduced paddles and add needing to look down at tacho when approaching redline...Selespeed will auto change up to prevent over rev or cutout.

Should we go through all the manual H pattern gearboxes that have had problems? Or how much sooner their clutches wore out because changes are not precise every single time.

Try both in various road conditions...I was convinced on a mountain road!Good luck

PS Like any technology buy a well looked after/serviced car and you will have less hassles...buy cheap from a silly boy racer and you will suffer.

Re: 147 manual or selespeed

You would have to talk to my mechanic, he likes my manual but thinks the seles are crap, he gets em in all the time with problems!
