Well Happy jackaloff

Hi, i recently bought a 1998 alfa 156 2.0 twin spark off a friend for a bargain price of 200, it came with 4 new tyres on 16" alloys so i thought id take a chance lol The downside is the car came without keys (i got the tax book and related doccuments though). I got a key cut from a locksmith which i only needed to open and lock the doors but it fits and turns the ignition turning the engine over but the code light remains on. I have been to a breakers yard and got a red key, i was wondering if its possible for me to take the code box from the car i got the key from in the breakers yard and fit it in my car and if i could take the metal part of the key my locksmith cut and attach it to the red key fob i got from the breakers. i have good practical knowlege of doing things like this but i have never done work of this type on an alfa before, anybody fancy giving me any pointers?? thanx Wayne
