Welcome to the world of the Alfa!
I'm a new GTA owner, and I've had a few smokey motors in my time, 2x Boxsters (2.7 and the 3.2S) a TVR Tamora, and an R32.
I am now driving a 05, 147 GTA in Gabbiani Blue, and i have to say I'm chuffed to bits, like you I was concerned with the reliability aspect, touch wood, it's been fine so far!
Bu Alfa ownership is so much more, it's something special.
The one thing I love about it, is the special feeling I get every time I get in it, and the smile it puts across my face, it's not perfect, as in the fuel economy is pretty poor, but hey, I expected it, after all it's a 3.2 snarling V6, the tax class is good £210, considering any car with this size motor after 2006 is £400.
It handles well, a little nose heavy perhaps, and it demonstrates the typical front wheel drive characteristics, but I'm planning on upgrading the diff to a Q2, which apparently transforms the car, I'm not saying it's bad now, in fact I'm impressed, again it's something you have to consider when purchasing a 250bhp front wheel drive stallion.
But most of the all, it's the sense of occasion I get everytime I get in the car, that is amazing, it's a wonderful place to be!
I also love the Alfa family, and this website is a great place to start, everyone seems so friendly, put it this way, I turned up at Shrewsbury Alfa Romeo Dealership the other day, and the Sales men were waiting to speak to me about the car!!!! What a great feeling!
And the noise!!! Ecstacy!
Do you get the message?
Buy one before they all go!
