Greeting fellow Alfa drivers
This is my "hello" posting, so . . . . . "Hello"
First the bad news,
I thought I'd join your happy throng as I'm suffering bad withdrawal symptoms, having been without my Spider for eight weeks.
My wife was driving it and a 17-year-old girl drove straight out from a side road and T-boned her. She's just passed her test 6 weeks earlier and rich daddy had bought her a new Mini Cooper.
I put the car in for repair and the garage ( the Newcastle Alfa dealers from whom I bought it in August 2005 ) couldn't find a replacement door anywhere in the UK or Italy !
They said I would just have to wait.
However, I e.mailed a couple of Alfa specialists on the web, and within hours one of them came back with news of a brand new door, genuine Alfa stock.
I put them in touch with my garage and hopefully there'll be some progress now that the door is on its way to the North East and weather seems to be warming up.
It echoes events when I first bought the car.
It was supposed to come with accessories – including roll over bars – ready fitted, but I was told there was a delay.
After waiting several weeks, I contacted the accessory manufacturer - ‘Zender’ in Germany - who said they didn’t know anything about parts being ordered for the car.
It transpired the delay was because of a communications breakdown between the garage and the UK importers.
It was only by chasing matters up myself that the deadlock was broken and progress was achieved.
Sorry that my first post has to be a moan, but here's looking forward to brighter times.
Best wishes everyone
