New Alfa

Hi All,

To introduce myself....Ive just bought my first ever Alfa!! Had it 24 hours and a committed Alfa lover already. (had Honda prelude before) Its only a little 147.... (2.0 Lusso), but definately going to be my pride and joy. Now looking for bit and pieces. A SAT NAV cd to start with, and then maybe a little more power. Any help appreciated from those of you with ideas on either.... and it's good to be part of the club!!

Re: New Alfa

Sad News..... Looks like I've bought a pup!!

Selespeed keeps jumping from 2nd to 5th, then back to neutral. Strangely though, it only seems to happen once the car gets warm. Doesnt seem to make any difference whether Im in City or not.

Going to ring dealer tomorrow, but starting to regret buying the thing already, especially after reading some of the threads abou these selespeeds......

Re: New Alfa

Well, how is she now? New software? Auto fluid need topping up - or something more serious?

Fingers crossed for ya.

Re: New Alfa

Funnily enough, she's still at the dealer. Rang em this morning, coz they've had it as long as I have now! Got told they were still working on it and to ring back this afternoon. Dont know if that means theyve finally fixed it or not.

Re: New Alfa

Got it back!! Picked it up last night. Only driven about 55 miles in it so far, but it's not missed a beat. Unfortunately I picked it up very late and haven't been able to speak to the mechanic myself yet, but the information passed on through receptionist was that it was as simple as stripping the "valve block", flushing it out and replacing with new fluid and bleeding etc. Apparently other than the 55 miles I have put on it, the mechanic put about 100 miles on it, and is confident its fixed.
Now Im no engnieer myself. Anyone want to tell me what he's referring to when they say "the valve block", and what fluids would they be referring to?
Either way, he does seem to have cured the problem, although unfortunatly Im working all weekend and wont be able to put any serious test miles on it until Monday. I'll also try to speak to the mechanic himself on Monday to get some more detail. Will let you know more once Ive spoken to him and put it through my own rigourous tests
