Let me introduce myself........
I was lucky enough to own and drive as my first car (28 years ago) an Alfetta GTV 2000.
It took 14 years and almost a million klm to split us apart!
Then a Toyota Celica 2.0 GT16 , an S-Class Mercedes, some Hondas, a Seat, a Lancia HF, a Suzuki, a Motorsport BMW 318iS and then my luck one night was the BMW to be stolen.
The family needed a four door sedan, I needed something to gain back my lost joy of driving (all cars blunt except the Lancia HF).
It was 1999 and it took just a 15 minute test drive of the 166 V6 Super (2.0T) to order one on the spot.
From this day, la "Bella machina" makes again my "from point A to point B ride" a joy, a thrill to drive.
It’s been 9 years from the day that SHE rolled at my parking spot and her beauty, her unique way of rolling on the asphalt and her brute clear power all over the rev counter still excites me as it did the day one.
So until now 23 beautiful Alfa years and a 5 year break with some other marques. Just enough to find out what an Alfa has under the bonnet and actually all over her, something called spirit, something so difficult to explain to non-AR owners who still count and value cars by the horsepower, the seconds of 0 to 60, the price depreciation or the little badge on the grille.
As of the common joke that Alfas are poorly made, after 5 years with other marques and especially a Mercedes and a BMW I am still laughing (or should I correct it to “crying” as I just remembered the huge amount of money paid for repairing the “well built” German cars!).
