New 147 Owner reporting in
Just purchased a 2004 (53-plate) 5-door 147 1.6TS Lusso in lovely black with red leather. Just right for Mrs Corned. She loves it, and I have to say so do I.
It's back at the (non-main) dealer having a couple of snags fixed, see below, but apart from that I can say that we are very impressed so far.
We test drove the car and it all sent very well. The long drive home after purchase betrayed an ever louder rumbling from the rear. Wheel bearing? We took the car to Alfa Technico near Mansfield, and Lewis gave the car a good once-over and agreed with me about the rear bearing. He was also worried about the front discs (2mm UNDER min thickness) and that all the brake pads were shot. Car was sold with new MOT cert!
I rang the dealer and told him of the issues, and to be fair to him, he immediately asked for the car back so he could fix all the issues.
The question remains over the MOT test though. I checked the VOSA website and checked the MOT history of the car. His test (on day of purchase) was a pass with no advisories. How so when the brakes were in that condition? Smacks of an arrangement if you ask me.
Enough niggles with the dealer. The car itself so far (1 week!) has been a joy and everyone has been impressed. I have contacted the main dealer (Solihull) where it was originally supplied and serviced to date, and they were very helpful and courteous. I am waiting for them to send out all the service history printouts which they readily agreed to do. The cambelt, tensioners and variator were all done at the 36,000 service (at 42,000 miles though), so that was a huge relief. The car now has 57,000 on the clock.
Can't wait to get it back!!
