Been lurking here for a while and finally went and bought an Alfa GT. I "had to buy" a fun-to-drive daily driver as my dear Mrs.+our baby girl monopolised our Octavia tdi dsg - so I decided it's my time to fulfill one dream and try an Alfa.
I was torn between a (used) 159 or GT, but after a few test drives the decision was easy - GT is so much fun, cheaper, not as common and has a practical boot too. The wife got over the lack of doors quite easily too ("if it has to be this or a motorbike...") so this car should be fine at least until we get more little ones.
It's a 2005 champagne-coloured JTS (JTD is not sold here in Finland and the v6 is just too much) with really nice tan leather interior. Lovely handling (even in snow
), stunning looks and surprisingly good build quality. Very little rattles or other noise. Only the door hinges seem to crackle a bit when opening.
Electrics, on the other hand... I once had a Fiat so I knew what to expect, and no surprise, the right headlight is dimming at random...
Anyways, I'm a excited new Alfa owner and will continue lurking, asking around and contributing here on AO.
Now I'm looking for a nice set of 17" alloys for the summer wheels. I was thinking of the GTA Teledials or something along those lines. Really liked these but couldn't find any shop that has them in their catalog:
PS. As a Finn I was hoping to see an Italian car in the front in Melbourne GP - now if they too could get their electrical systems working
