After sitting on the fence for so long reading all about other Alfa fans issues and stories I decided to jump in and share my experiences.I drive a Alfa 147 2.0 TS that I have had for two years and apart from a new set of tyres have had no problems with it during the 36,000 miles I have put on the clock
Oh that was until I took it to be serviced. I had a cambelt and tensioner change, balance belt and tensioners change, Major service , MOT and air conditioning service, new front pads and discs and new bushes on front suspension costing nearly £900. Ouch I thought but could have been worse I guess!! On getting the car back and driving to work the car seemed to lack any kind of pick up when accelerating and then it happened..
bang.. loud noise from engine, the engine diagnostic light came on .. motor system failure message came on dash closely followed by complete oil pressure failure and engine cut out.Not happy. I am now waiting for diagnoses from the garage that has done all previous work, apparently its not any of the belts that have failed , he was keen to point that out.
Would be interested if anyone else has had previous history or problems after having cambelt change or has any ideas what could have happened.? I will keep you all updated!
