Hi, as per joining the forum, a little intro.

As with most car people, always desired Alfa's, drove a few suds and sprints in the 80's, remember out gunning a Rover 3500 on the Lincoln ring road with that raspy noise coming in through the window. Good times. As I grew up, mostly had big Vauxhalls including a Monza, Chevette HS and Omega. Moved on to rally a Talbot Samba, Escort, then a 205 GTi. Sat for a while between cars, so did some navigating in a Rothmans 911 SCRS and an Escort on teh RAC Rally.

Now having a midlife crisis, so the Fiesta Zetec was sold (don't under estimate this little rocket, superbly balanced and lively) and convinced the wife we needed an Alfa.

Tried some 944's, but they were so so. Set my heart on an 156 with the sport and Lusso packs, watched a few but they were never quite right, so widened my search, and blow me away, I realised the GTV was within my budget. So now have a Series 2 (98) 2.0 litre GTV in Gun Metal with the Cup Spoiler. Had good history, but a few faults. Changed the MAF thanks for the advise posted, goes like a train now. To finish would like to fit the Alfa 6 disc system back in it, fit mud flaps (can you get them?) and generally TLC it again.

I hate my job, but the run in and home is a good balance. Life is Good.

How do I change the illumination buld for the temp control on the dash? Any advise please,

Steve
