Hello All,
I have a 1958 Alfa Giulietta Spider I bought when I was 17 out of the salvage yard in South Carolina. On my paltry teenage budget, and pre-World Wide web as the amazing resource it is, I managed to restore it to pretty decent-looking functionality. I finished it just in time to be in the movie "Shag" with Phoebe Cates and Bridgette Fonda. You can see it in the background in a few scenes, driving and parked. Anyway, fast forward to me turning 41 this year and I still have it. I look forward to showing the car at the annual euro auto festival at the BMW plant at home in South Carolina this October (
Euro Auto Festival). She is getting new paint next week and I wanted to connect with other Alfa guys and join the community. On the paint note, I really wanted to update and make her silver. With all that black and chrome, I think they just look fantastic that way, but my wife insists on red, which I am quite tired of. The car is pretty sentimental to us, as I took her out for ice cream in it when she was still a kid (I am 9 years older).
This car has a lot of replacement sheetmetal, but it is all repros of the factory stamped stuff. Regardless, she'll never be a concours winner, so I want to make it a car I will simply enjoy more and may upgrade to disc brakes. I haven't done anything drastic yet, but anything I do will not be anything structural and thus can be reversed. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi, and I will get pictures when she is painted. If anyone wants to share any thoughts, please feel free!
