Alfa 156 v6 sports 2.5

Good day

I have a 2005 v6 alfa.Please can anyone tell me when the cam belts needs to be replaced.Also what happens to the engine when the cam belt snaps. How can I get the details of the manufacter in Italy.

Ignore the 72K interval. Most Alfa dealers & specialist now say 36K or every three years.

When the CamBelt snaps bits of the engine fail to synchronise when they are moving up or down and collide with one another.

Result - knackered inlet & exhaust valves, engine stops, towed to garage followed by large bill for replacement valves etc or "have you got a new engine"

Alfa officially brought all petrol engine cam belt changes to 36k late last year.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys and girls I appreciate it.
I bought my Alfa 2 years ago and I must say that my experience has not been good.My vehicle has been in the workshop more than what it has been driven.On top of it the explaination that I get never makes any sense.So now my vehicle has been in for abouta month.Apparently some things has to be reconditioned.

I am now trying to get the details of alfa in Italy to complain but the South African division just refuses to co-operate.
