Just signed up the last couple of weeks and thought I'd introduce myself to memebers of the forum.
I've not had an Alfa for a few years now but am beginning to look around at getting a 156 in the next few months. Something round about the 2001/2002 age, 1.8 or 2.0 Veloce with leather - that's the plan anyway! I'm currently driving an A6 2.8SE and while it's been a great car in general it's not the most rewarding to drive in terms of feedback hence the desire to go back to an Alfa. Prior to this I owned a low mileage Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo but impending fatherhood back then forced me to the bigger car and I needed a safe option due to cash restraints.
My own experience of Alfa's previously was a French blue 145 Junior which was a great car to drive but fatally flawed even though it was only a year and a half old! Hopefully a 156 will be a step up from this - from what I've seen and driven it certainly appears so.
I don't want to bore anyone but if anybody does have any useful tips for buying one of these I'd be glad to hear your thoughts. I know most of the usual stuff from 156.net, etc but sometimes it's good to speak to folk on the front line. I'd be interested if anyone out there has experience of higher milage 156s say 100k plus to see what their build/reliablity is like.
Anyway, cheers if you're reading this and look forward to any comments.
