Alfa dealer service (Hello from a newbie)

Hi all,

My name is Steve and I bought my first Alfa (147 1.6 '02') last April and i absolutely love it!!! It is now approaching my 1 year anniversary and i am now looking at booking a service / mot / new tyres etc.

I saw the cost of the service when at my local dealer and noticed the 6th Service cost was £792 - this seems very pricey compared with other services. The last service i had was when i bought the car and tghis was the 60,000 service - i am due my 72,000 mile service next by my car has only done 56,000. Am i going to have to fork out £800? Is there significant benefits to having it done by an Alfa dealer - i know the obvious answer is 'yes' buty at this price, have any other people been in the same situation?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

It will need it's cambelt changing, hence the cost. That said, £800 seems steep. Shop around you should look at paying around £600.
