Hi! New Alfa owner here :-)

Just a quick first post to say hi!

I have just bought a lovely 1998 GTV V6 and it is fantastico! No doubt I will be on here with lots of questions regarding maintenance and DIY jobs etc in the near future :-)

My last car was a Porsche 928 GT and I can honestly say the Alfa is so much more fun - I can't believe the power and handling! Not to mention the styling.... So far I am amazed by her!

Welcome to AO

Porsche 928 GT, is this the 5.0 V8 with manual box? Its one of my dream cars

I'm suprised you find the GTV V6 powerful after coming from one of those!

Re: Hi! New Alfa owner here :-)

Hi Pud! Yes thats the one, it was a 91 GT 5 speed dogleg manual! Very very quick.... And was a dream car! I have owned 2 928s and not regretted either. However, the power was just not useable on the road - and it was too nice to want to do a track day in it!

Here's a pic of her:

The GTV is definately quicker point to point simply because it handles so well and the pereformance is so "useable"! The Porsche was a great car but I just couldn't throw it around like I can the GTV and it was too easy to lose the rear end, thats despite the 285 pzero rossas on the back of it! :-)

Re: Hi! New Alfa owner here :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Searching through old threads and stuff this message board seems great so far... Its reassuring that there are knowlegeable people on here who will be able to point me in the right direction when my Alfa gets upset or ill :-)

She looks lovely! Rare alloys too, I don't think I've seen any in that style on a 928 before. I'm a 944 man at heart, but a 928 I would love, just for the exhaust note

I'm suprised that the back kicked out so easily! At least you won't have to fork out for replacing 285s anymore, I bet that wasn't cheap!
