Hello to everyone, I just signed up today after stumbling across the forum a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have been reading your stories with a mixture of empathy and amusement..!!
Without wishing to sound like a feature on a Simon Bates radio programme...this is my story: I bought an Alfa 147 Lusso Selespeed (45000 miles on the clock and full service histoy) just before Christmas, you can probably guess what's coming, less than 20 days later the cam-belt snapped taking all that it could down with it .
3 weeks later I got the car back with pretty much a new engine in it and was facing a bill of £1250, double

Luckily I managed to convince the dealer who I had bought the car from to knock the bill down to £500 as I had only had the car a couple of weeks...even though I firmly believe I shouldn't have had to have paid anything at all (unsuitable goods n' all that!) but c'est la vie.
Anyway, I've got it back now and am loving driving it - I must say the handling is superb but I am a bit disappointed with the acceleration. I recently drove an Audi A3 1.8diesel which was much quicker. Is it just my new engine bedding in or is this just generally the case that acceleration ain't that great??? Any views??
