Re: Almost new GT owner
Hello gtzigk. Ive got a 147 with the 1.6 twinspark engine. I can honestly say that my engine hardly uses any oil at all. Its done 15000 miles and runs as sweet as a nut. Its on its third oil and filter change and i check the oil religiously every week.
Alfas are cars that need tlc, they are not fords/vauxhalls that nobody cares about. You will find strangers coming up to you and asking you what is it? or whats it like to drive. Get used to being stared at in traffic, every journey will feel like an occasion. Like it or not an Alfa GT will attract a lot of attention. Watch out for the jealous friends/family who will take the **** because youve bought an Alfa. I speak from experience. Just bite your tongue at let them have their say. Offer to take them for a drive and experience what the car is like and they will never take the **** again!!
My 147 has never let me down but then again i do make sure i dont rev the nuts off the engine until the needle is on half way position. Very important on the alfa twinspark engine, let the oil get hot before petrolhead mode takes over. 147 and Gt have similar running gear and electrics so you should find your GT as relaible as any other car. After all the engine is run using Bosch electrics!!
