Introduction

Hi Alfa Forum. I live in Rome with my family. I became a proud Alfa owner quite by accident. You see, when I came here last year I was just a Hyundai owner. Not particularly proud of it, but in my adult years I had come to think of cars only in functional terms, something to get me from A to B. A couple of factors led me to decide I needed another car. My wife and I had our second child, so a second car would be handy, especially when we have guests (which is often). Also, the Hyundai, which was new when we arrived , was getting beat up pretty badly by the Roman roads. I figured I'd get a cheap second car to absorb the punishment and leave the Hyundai in the garage.

I work for an Embassy here, which periodically auctions off its official vehicles when they are past a certain age. They tend to have high milage, but our mechanics maintain them well. After I'd made my decision, the first car that came up for auction was a silver 2001 Alfa 166. My winning bid for the was 2600€.

I've had the car for two months, and I have completely fallen in love with it. I took it to a body shop to have all the little dents pulled and scratches removed. I've purchased a bunch of detailing products to clean her up real nicely, and I have some shiney new alloy wheels on the way. My wife thinks I'm nuts, given my original purpose for buying the car, but I can't help it. I'm now a very proud Alfa owner!
