Hello Fellow Members,

I have recently purchased an Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTDM. It is my very first Alfa Romeo and I am very excited and determined to maintain and keep this car in excellent condition for as long as possible, if not forever ???.

Just out of curiousity. Does anyone know the specific name of the colour that my car is painted in ? It is extremely unique and is one of the main reasons why I purchased the car. We like to call the colour Champagne Gold ?

I live in London and in specific Brent. I was wondering if there was anyone local to me that I could get the car checked out by just to get some advice on the car and if there is anything that needs doing? It would also be nice to know another Alfa Romeo GT owner that is local to me.

Thank you for reading this and I hope to help people as much as I can on this forum and receive some myself.

Very nice - I got my first GT just over a year ago and have loved every minute - a few issues of course, but nothing too major!!

I'd recommend you get it over to Ned and the boys at Autolusso for a check over -they do free 'Saturday Surgeries' on Saturday mornings and are well worth the effort - I had mine done shortly after buying and they highlighted a couple of things that needed doing.

First thing I'd do is get the swirl flaps/EGR deleted and then get a remap - I had this done and it's made a world of difference - also, it'll guarantee the swirl flaps don't cause a problem as that can be expensive to sort out and (I'm told) is a ticking time bomb on these cars...

What's the mileage on the car? Has it been serviced regularly? When did the timing belt and water pump last get done?

After these concerns you can start with the fun stuff like sorting the suspension and fitting a Quaife slip diff!!

Thanks for your valuable response Hawks82. The mileage is at about 63K and we were told that the timing belt was changed a couple of years ago. The previous owner's had previous MOTs and receipts but nothing for the timing belt change. That's why I wanted to get the car checked out to see if it needs changing and if there's anything else that needs doing.

I will definitely be modifying the car when the funds and time are available.?

No worries!

If you're not sure about the timing belt and water pump, I'd def get that checked asap. I had mine changed when i got the swirl flaps and EGR done. All in it was about £1000 with the remap and a new front wishbone i needed - although Ned at Autolusso will be able to give you an exact price....

If you go to Autolusso, they will definitely not take you to the cleaners - they are very honest and would never tell you something needs to be done if it doesn't. They certainly don't need the work!!

Honestly, i think you'll struggle to find someone who is willing to look over your car for you for free. There really is no substitute for a good specialist. Get yourself along to a Saturday surgery at Autolusso and then you'll get an idea of what needs to be done and how much it will cost.

And no - I don't work for them!!
