Hello post
Hi to all,
I have just traded a 93 BMW 540i to become the owner of a 2003 Alfa 166 3.0 24v Sportronic. My thanks to this site for making my mind up on the trade, but must admit the first two weeks have not been overly kind.
Managed to rip the nose section of the body-kit off on my driveway and drag it down the road. In for repair this week. Have also decided to remove the boot lid spoiler for aesthetic reasons and this will add the boot lid to the respray list.
As Alfas are comparitively rare in Australia, and I appear to have the only 166 in Cairns, I must confess to enjoying the looks of appreciation that the cars great lines draw.
Other than the left indicator not cancelling, I have not as yet suffered any other of the common faults listed on this site.
Can't say I am too impressed with the ride over rough roads but have found the handling impressive on the good stuff. Bilstein B6 appear to be the fix,
I do miss the outright grunt of the 540i but rapidly adapting to the Alfa.
