Hi Guys,
I just bought a 1999 156 2.0TS Selespeed at the weekend and so far it has broken down on me every morning since

Now I know why all my friends said not go for the italian job! Anyway..
Basically when braking to a standstill the car judders and then occasionally stalls with the Selespeed warning light flashing and buzzing. It is then impossible to shift from first gear to Neutral or to restart the engine (even with the brake pedal pressed). I have to keep turning the ignition on and off or wait 2-3 mins for the Selespeed warning to clear before I can restart the engine. It's becoming really fustrating especially during rush hour traffic
I did notice that the Selespeed transmission fluid was low (as suggested in another post) so I topped this up, but it hasn't made any difference.
The strange thing is that it only happens when the car is cold, usually within the first 15-20 mins of driving, after that the car is fine, although it does still judder when coming to a standstill, but doesn't stall or cut out.
I'm not an expert but it's as though the clutch actuator isn't engaging quickly enough to prevent the car from stalling when braking to a standstill.
Has anyone had a similar experience with the selespeed gearbox? Any suggestions welcome?
The previous owner says he never experienced any issues, but I'm sure he's laughing all the way to the bank !
