Hello
New to this Forum, so just making my introduction.
I bought my mk2 in 1989 it was in a sorry state having been laid up for four years and buried under junk. The car was in bits so on a very limited budget it was made roadworthy and resprayed. I remember spending lots of time working on the detail but never really achieving what I had hoped. The car served a purpose but was not that reliable and the interior was smelly owing to the fact that it was leaking through the footwells. Anyway, in summer 2006 I decided to go all in and employed Alan Bennet at Benalfa, Westbury to nut and bolt rebuild the old girl and shes now nearly ready. I have tried to make sure that the car stays original but also to be brought up to date in some areas.
The new spec is as follows.
1750 gtv Mk2, Alfa Red, Black soft/perforated leather interior, Leather dash and console with polished steel detailing, leather covered parcel shelf, side panels, sun visors and original steering wheel which has been beautifully bound.
Fully rebuilt balanced and blueprinted fast road engine, twin 45s, electronic ignition. Stainless full race manifold and single pipe system.
Bilstien shocks, lowered with handling kit, uprated brakes with drilled and grooved discs, 14" Gta replica alloys with 185/70 Corsas. upgraded headlights.
1970s style ICE with navigation and bluetooth built in to the car but not visible. Leather trimmed carpet and lined boot area with lighting.
Four chrome buckled inertia reel seat belts in dark red.
In addition to the above I have rechromed large and small pieces thoughout to achieve the desired level of finish.
I am looking forward to getting the job finished in order to get some images posted.
In the meantime, I hope that this of interest.
Matthew
