Hi to all. I have taken over from friend 1999 Alfa 156 2.0TS in december last year. He has spent about 4000 pounds over a two year period with the Alfa specialist in Johannesburg, South Africa fixing various problems and servicing the car. In December 2006 he went for a short trip, day after the service, and after 150km the engine lost the power and started emmiting thick black smoke. As he asked me for help I have towed the car to my place and had a brief inspection of the engine. It looked very strange but it looked as the engine did not have oil changed for a very long time. With the help of another friend who is very experienced professional mechanic we opened the engine and found that it siezed as there was not an oil change done for at least two years. Further more we have discovered few dozen missing nuts and bolts, minor parts, trimmings etc. I have taken the car, restored the engine and moved the car to Cape Town. Slowly I am fixing bits and pieces in order to restore it to the full working condition. I am driving it to work every day and I must admit, it's great performer and real fun to drive.
